I would like to begin this session by selecting topics and asking questions to receive feedback.  I will be using a combination of tools:  my college network module, the Excelsior exam content guide, and an Excelsior test review I purchased through ebay!  First I would like to get feedback on this question?

1.  In your own words describe growth and how it is measured when assessing babies, children, and teens?  Then on the other hand describe development in those categories?

Once we are able to grasp the concept of the two, then we can better understand the importance of assessing these areas with each pt. contact to better determine the appropiate plan to met our pt's. needs along the life span!

On your own time  it is important to review and compare the different theorist like Freud/ Erikson (most importantly); Peck, Gould, and Havighurst...Piaget (important); Kohlberg, Gilligan's; Fowler (important);  and Westerhoff...

However, try to grasp an over all concept of their theories in order to establish the foundation principles of growth and development!

Remember though this a lot of info that is only 10% of the test!!!

1. Genetics:
2. Ones SEX (male/female); Sexual activity; Sexual preferences.
3. Age
4. individual preferences:  family make-up and lifestyle choices
5. physical condition (past and current status of health)
6. Cultural and spiritual beliefs
7. Socioeconomic factors
8. Environmental factors
9. Psychological factors
10. Nutrition
