Has anyone who has graduated from Excelsior with your ADN gone or tried to go to a University for your BSN?  If so, do they accept any credits from this program?

hello,

I am new to this site, so this may be a crazy question.

Can you apply to any AS-RN to BS-RN program once you recieve your AS-RN degree from EC. I am wondering because i am from florida, and florida do not accept EC (unless you r a LPN), so i was thinking of receiving my AS from EC and then getting my BS from an accredited school in florida.

Thanks

A state board will always consider the original source of your RN, so getting a BSN later isn't going to help you with a state board situation.

Regarding schools accepting EC's ASN to continue for a BSN, they certainly do. I applied to and was accepted to 3 different schools (all very reputable RN-BSN completion programs), and I finally picked Chamberlain College of Nursing for my BSN. I'm 6 courses from completion now, and very happy with my choice. Good luck to everyone!

Lisa,
I just finished excel waiting to take the board. However, i have completed all of the prereq for the bsn program except stats. Can you tell why you chose chamberlain over excelsior. What is the difference in the programs? thanks in advance

It's kind of a long story, but the bottom line is that I was ready for something besides Excelsior. Chamberlain is more expensive per credit hour, but Excelsior wanted me to repeat things I'd already had, and couldn't tell me if they'd give me credit for my previous statistics class until I actually enrolled. I decided to go elsewhere. The bottom line is about the same, and I'm very happy with Chamberlain.

There are hundreds of BSN programs -- it's definitely best to do lots of research to find a program that's right for you.

Not sure. I know they do reduce the enrollment fee from the usual $895, but I don't know how much, and I haven't seen anything advertised as 50% off, so I'm not entirely sure!

DJ;

Just a note, the EC English Comp is 945 dollars just for the tuition, nothing else.  They do require a lot more than some of the other colleges.  I haven't checked as many as Lisa, but have done some scouting.   Make sure above all that they are accredited.  That is a must!
