Passed NC 1, finally!
«

Finally took NC 1 on May 8th, and passed with a B! I have been trying to take this test for months because I was so afraid of failing it and having to retake it. I started out reading all the material assigned from the study guides, but it was taking forever. Then I heard about Studygroup 101, bought those notes, and reviewed them several times. At this point, I still did not feel comfortable with my knowledge, so I got my study guide from Excelsior back out and went over just what the outlines referred to in the books, and I am so glad I did because it made so much more sense to me. I appreciate all the advice and help, especially about going ahead and making a test date, deadlines are definitely a HUGE motivating force.

Congratulations, I have been studying for NC1 for months, but still don't feel ready to take the test yet. How did you obtain Excelsior practice test?

On the EC site. Scroll down the page to "Excelsior College Examinations Website" and click on that. You will find where to go next at the left of the screen. Let me know if you need further directions. Good luck! I don't think I would have done nearly as well on any exams without doing the practice tests first! I learned a lot from them.

Wow! Haven't checked here in awhile, been busy trying to beat Excelsior's deadline! I just wanted to add that one book that has helped me better than anything is the "Saunders NCLEX-RN Exam Study Guide." It also has a CD companion with thousands of questions-which gets you used to answering the type of questions asked on Excelsior Exams. To me, it helps you to get in the 'Exam Mode' by going thru all those questions plus giving you the rationales for the answers. You can know the info, but if you don't know how to answer those questions, then it is hard to make it on those tests!
Hope this helps...
