Didn't you say you were in the military? I thought active duty folks got a discount from EC, through Dantes.

Regarding some of your other questions -- the CLEPs are not easy. They do require study -- you have to have comprehension of the core concepts for any given subject. If you rush, you're going to waste time and money ... I know you're eager, and that's great! But take your time with some of these so you don't end up having to wait to retest.

yes, i'm active duty military!!! all the ec exams, clep, and dsst are free. just have to wait 6 months if you fail. but we are responsible for buying our own books and study materials. and yes they have a discount option for tuition @ excelsior college, but nothing for books. Lips sealed Undecided

I'd recommend checking out StudyGroup101's materials: http://mystudygroup101.homestead.com

They sell on eBay, but recently opened up their own website to sell their materials. I found their guides to be very comprehensive and definitely worth the price!

Also, you can buy some of the textbooks for next to nothing on half.com or used on amazon.com. I found the Fundamentals of Nursing book on Amazon used for $13. I really recommend having AT LEAST a Fundamentals book. The notes won't always cover everything.
