I took A&P this morning and passed with a B. I was a little disappointed in not getting an A on the test, but honestly, I probably didn't put an A's worth of effort into studying -- it was just so much material, as I'm sure many of you know! And after some of the test questions, I was really happy with my B. Ha ha! Smiley

I've never tested like this before, and I have to say the Pearson people were very nice, but the whole thing was conducted in such a top-secret manner -- it reminded me of working for the government! Especially the biometrics part -- just after finishing and getting my grade, my hands were shaking and I couldn't get my index finger on the print reader properly at first. Heh. And is is just me, or do you only get a quick glance at your grade initially? Or maybe I spazzed and clicked, I don't remember. Smiley

I used a TCN study guide to prepare for this exam. I liked the organization and presentation of the material. I've listed my guide on eBay.

Woo hoooooooo! Continuing now with NC1, which I started studying a few weeks ago ...

Congrats Lisa!!  I took NC1 and passed.  Just read the required texts according to the EC study outline and study from Lisa Arends' notes and you will be just fine.
 Good Luck,

With regards to A&P, the material seemed to go fairly deep to me -- and the test definitely seemed more heavy on physiology vs. anatomy, but you still have to know that anatomy as well. Overall, it seemed like a fairly difficult test -- it's important to really understand body mechanisms like digestion, muscle movement, hormones and their actions, etc. Definitely know all the cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, and digestive functions inside and out. The test does seem to be pretty true to the study guide as far as what percentage of material will be on the test.

The test also tells you at the beginning that some questions are "experimental" and thus don't count, but you won't know which ones they are and you should try to do your best on all of them. Ha ha!! There were some wacky ones on there that mentioned pieces and parts that I don't even recall hearing about, ever. Smiley

I totally agree with you as far as some of the questions not making sense. They make a statement at the beginning of the test saying that there are sample questions scattered throughout the tests so Im sure those are the ones we didnt know a thing about. Yeah, when I finsihed my Micro test my score briefly flashed up on the screen too. I wondere if it was fluke with as quickly as it happened...and then I didnt know if I should get my hopes high or if they were trying to psych me out! The reader wouldnt pick up my fingerprint either. I also was stressed out because just as they opened the door to escort me to my terminal to test I looke ddown and saw that I had my shirt on inside-out! They must have thought I was a freak and it did distract me for a bit from the initial stress of starting. Smiley
I made an earlier post about my micro experience and Lisa Arends study guide helping me. When I was studying I really thought she was being kind of silly and "self important" with some of the complexity of her trial test questions...but if it hadn't been for her detailed "nit-picky" questions (as I saw them) I wouldnt have studied as hard and wouldnt have passed. Does anyone know if NC #3 is just as hard as Micro and A&P was?

I think if you did well on Micro and A&P, you will do fine on NC3 and all the rest.  NC3 had alot of maternity(problems of) and newborn questions. I found that my Saunders RN nclex book helped me with that

I thought I was lucky in that I dont have to take A & P and micro, but I am finding that it would have been nice to have a refresher.

I am having a hard time on NC4!!  I got a D, the cardiology did it to me, it got specific, so here I am, starting from scratch on the heart.  The practice tests were nothing like the test, the wording was different. So in my despair I looked up who wrote the exams, and it showed that NC 4 had different faculty that wrote that exam, where NC1-3 had the same faculty. That explains why the wording was different too I guess.

Know all the signs and symptoms, and problems with maternity, and the newborn.  You will do fine.
