I took this exam today and made a "B". I was told by an Excelsior faculty that I was probably the first to take it.

I don't think its so different from NC1.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Hello!!! I'm brand new to this site and the whole excelsior thing- congrats on passing your exams! I'm about to start studing for the first nursing test and with all the new changes I'm not really sure what to study??? So confused?? i have co-workers that have offered me books and notes but now I'm bummed because everything has changed.... I really wanted to do Lisa's notes but I'm not sure if they will work now?? I get overwhelmed with huge books. What have you been studying to pass the new nursing exams??  Also wanted to ask you- how hard did you have to study for  these exams??  Sorry for all the questions- I'm just a little nervous being the first ones to start the new tests!! Any info would help!!
Thank You

The curriculum change is more about reorganization than new material ... after all, the Nursing profession didn't change just because EC's curriculum did. Wink Save yourself a lot of trouble and make sure you follow EC's exam content guide for each exam; you can download these from EC's publications page on the EC website. Then make sure your study materials correspond to the exam content guide, and voila! You're on your way.

There are a few new sections in a couple of the exams (Chronicity and Health Differences 2, I think), but if you follow your exam content guides, you'll be fine.

Thank You so much for the info Lisa- i printed out your response to someone else's post on the new curriculum- your such a help-  One more thing... Would you recommend buying the books from ec that correspond with each nursing test or try to get by with notes and such from various sources?? Just wanna get started and don't know where to start. Thank you

Personally, I won't rely on just notes. I like having the textbooks to fall back on if there's information in the exam content guide that isn't covered in notes. But that's just me ... others have passed using only notes.

I used Chancellor's guides that I bought on eBay, as well as notes from StudyGroup101 and Lisa Arends, in addition to textbooks. Plus the EC practice exams ... those are a must, in my mind! Those were my study sources and they served me well -- 2 B's and 7 A's. Cheesy

Thanks!! It sure didn't feel like "breezing" at the time ... LOL! I still stress about every single exam, even the Sociology CLEP. Smiley I did a sample test on petersons.com last night and did okay, though -- 73 correct out of 100, and that's with not too much studying yet. I just have to remind myself that this IS just pass/fail, but I still like to get high scores and learn the material. I'm a dork!  Grin
