Hi Everybody!
Wow, glad I stumbled on to this website.  Just started Excelsior Program.  Fell for the TCN books.  Didn't research too well, prior to signing.  Now I'm a bit sorry I didn't.  I completed Life Span, got a B.  Originally scheduled to take A&P exam today, but I rescheduled due to the doubts I had.  Not enough diagrams in TCN A&P book.  Feel text could be in simpler terms to make understanding easier.  Does anyone feel the same way?  I did go ahead and buy Lisa Arends CD for the course.  After seeing comments on here, I was convinced.  Haven't had a chance to take a good look at it.  Now scheduled for exam on 10/20.  Going to put my head down and do it!  Nice to be able to talk to other people in same boat!

:-*Hi Dipitydoo-I too bought the TCN books. I have the whole set and glad I bought everything at one time. I don't have to worry about finding my books online. I just got accepted to the Excelsior program and have already done all my prereqs. I am on NC3. I like the books. They don't have alot of visual aids, but I like the exams in the back and the books are easy for me to take back and forth to work as I study 1 hour before I start working. I always read each book twice before testing. Since I am an LPN, I understand most of the information already. When I finish one book, I go on to the next one. I had to finance it all, but to me it was worth it for the convenience. If you have any questions or just want to chat, please let me know. I plan on purchasing some of Lisa Arends study guides and CD also. Good luck on the A&P exam. It is a very hard exam! Let me know how you do. I will be taking NC 3 test between now and then.

I took A&P awhile ago, I think I got a B.  The one thing I remember about the exam......there were a lot of questions on acid-base balance and related.  I didn't know they could ask about acid-base from so many different perspectives.  I'm guessing there were 8 to 10 questions alone on that.  Make sure you have a thorough understanding.  For some reason, I reviewed it the night before my exam.  I was sure glad!!!

I have not taken A&P yet...thought I would get the concepts courses knocked out so I could apply for CPNE and do A&P and Micro while I wait.  I went through TCN too...and have been doing very well so far with their modules....so glad I did!  Might have liked to save money by getting them on eBay, but then you get marked and missing pages sometimes.  Goodness knows, I marked my 1st 2 up pretty well!  LOL (but I got As!)  I also used Lisa's notes on CD...VERY helpful!  I will keep an eye on this site so I know what to expect when I do A&P...thanks for the tips!

I used a TCN book for A&P, as well as Lisa Arends' notes. That test was a b**ch, plain and simple! Ha ha ha!! Like Bonnie, I got a B on it -- and I was happy to get that, let me tell you! It's just the sheer volume of information that makes it a tough test. But I felt like the TCN book really prepared me well for the exam. Smiley
