A and P
«
on:
August 06, 2007, 06:42:22 PM »
Just wondering if any one can tell me how they studied for the A and P exam. I have the Rue material which consists of a textbook, reference guide, workbook and coloring workbook. I have als posted the quick cliff notes for A and P. I guess what my delima is unlike sociology and psychology I just dont know where to start. And I was wondering what others may have done. Also I was wondering what Lisa's notes that are sold on this page is about. How is the info on the media compiled.
Thanks to everyone

I had the TCN book for A&P, as well as Lisa Arends' notes. It took me a long time to study for A&P -- just remember that it's two semesters' worth of material, so it might take you a little longer to study for it. At first I was just studying from the recommended text (all 1130 pages of it, *groan*) because I didn't know TCN/Chancellors/RUE existed! Then I met another EC student who opened my eyes to the world of the EC Yahoo groups, where I read about study guides and notes and all that good stuff.
Anyway, I ended up with the TCN A&P book back in March (purchased on eBay), and tested in mid-May. I found it was most helpful to schedule my test, then use that as my deadline (and I'm still doing that with ALL my tests!). I probably dawdled around for about 6 months before I got my TCN guide ... well, I wasn't exactly dawdling ... I was reading that huge A&P text! I think I got through 15 of the 29 chapters before getting the TCN guide.
Be sure you have free EC content guide for A&P -- you can download it from the EC website. I used that as a guideline to make sure I was learning all the correct material. A&P is a big test, and I was thrilled to get a B on it! LOL
Lisa Arends' notes are actually sold on eBay. She is an EC graduate who makes her notes available to EC students. They come on a CD and are in PDF or PPT format, for the most part. Her notes are pretty much a study guide, and she includes a lot of extra, in-depth supplemental information in sub-folders on the CD.
Good luck!!

Thank you very much Lisa,
I started the text work book and coloring book yesterday. And finished Chapter one. So far I think I have this figured out. At lest for now. I am going to work on it a little for now, I am testing on my sociology CLEP exam Thursday. So I am going to also continue to review soc. until then.
Once again
Thank you

I met with a representative of The College Network today, 3-20-2007, I was obviously a scam form the first word. He treated me like a off the street junkie from word one even though I have been a paramedic for over 5 years now. I asked him specific questions that he had no direct answers for. Instead he referred be back to the great "benefits" of the program. When he attempted to get me to sign the gauranteed finicial agreement at 12% I asked about the highlighted statement at the bottom of the page....."The College Network is in no way affiliated the Excelsior College." At this point in time he informed me that the listed Excelsoir College charges were outside The College Network Charges. He then informed me of the additional 6,000 dollars in College Newtork charges at the 12% interest rate. I advised him I would not take the high interst rate and would look into my own finances. He was on a bee line out the door! I asked him a question, a loaded question, reference to Excelsior being accepted in my state. He then stumbled and gave me an "addendum" that stated I would have to test out of state then request endorsement by my home state to be reviewed to become licensed in my home state. Watch this scam and ask the questions.... They will become uneasy and leave you "with information to call them back." Do your research here.

Sorry you had such a problem...
I went with TCN...I have followed all the texts and have gotten A grades on all exams. I am currently awaiting CPNE. I would have liked to have gotten the books (same ones) on eBay but didn't think to look! (yeah..I was an idiot!) Company I work for paid outright for the books, however, and I have been very satisfied with them.
The representative I spoke with was up front about being a publishing company and not affiliated with EC...he was straight with everything. I could have financed it any way I wanted...If I got personal financing then they would give me the 10% discount that I got for cash pay because they would get the full amount right away and would not be involved in the financing end. He was up front about the EC costs and that they were separate...and about the cost of testing...even told me about practice tests through EC and their cost. Everything was gauranteed and they lived up to it...replaced a notebook that didn't close properly...text and all and I didn't even have to send the old one back. When it was determined I didn't need a class they had me down for, I received a check for the amount paid.....no problems.
As well as my situation went...I still suggest people find out what classes they HAVE to take (from
EC
)...then check eBay for the books. I
DO
recommend using TCN books to study from. I have passed mine on to several other people (also successful so far).
Sorry you had such a jerk for a salesman, fyrefyter14!
