EC California Endorsement with BSN
«

Hi all,
So here is where I am. I am a Flight Paramedic in Texas with many years of experience. I would like to earn my RN and as I work full time and have kiddos, EC is really attractive to me. I know of all the issues with EC and California. I have family living there and long term would love to take a travel assignment in CA.
So what I am wondering is this- If I start with my ADN at EC and then have both RN experience and get a online BSN (looking at UT Arlington) what do you think my chances of CA licensure are? Any experiences? I have already applied and had my eval with EC and it looks great, I really dont want to shoot myself in the foot for later though.
Thanks all

The California Board of Nursing will always look at the initial source of your RN licensure, which would be Excelsior, so an RN-to-BSN completion isn't really a "loophole." They say they'll consider EC grads on a "case-by-case" basis, but you really can't count on it, even with all the great experience you have.
I did EC's program as a paramedic, and have completed my BSN through an RN-to-BSN program. Sometimes I'm tempted to try to endorse into CA just to see what happens. LOL
