Hi everyone. I need some help/advice. I am trying to get my ADN and I need all the classes. A buddy of mine at work had a set of college network modules that he never used from 2006. They are the nursing concepts 1-6 version and he tells me that the are the same as the new ones and I dont need the new version. It also came with the A&P, Micro, General Biolgy, Sociolgy, Introductions to world religions, and English comp. Now A&P, Micro, English comp seem useful to me, But I don't see exams for the others. I also have a feeling the Nursing conepts 1-6, Fondations of professional practice and Life Span developmental pysch are out of date. He sold them to me all for $400. Even if its all out of date and the only useful modules are A&P, Micro, and English Comp Do you still think this is an ok deal? I was originally just going to buy the guided learning package that excelsior offers thru the online bookstore for each exam and just study that way. What do you guys think is the best way to go about learning material?

Other than English comp, Micro, A&P and the nursing courses, I dont even know what other classes I need. This is my Unofficial Evaluation

i paid a lot more than that and still have to use other resources. i went thru the tcn don't do it. i used many free online websites for free for micro and a and p got a B and A respectively. and i thought they were VERY easy and all the blogs i read say a and p was a nightmare so maybe my test was very different or i studied way to much i studied about 2  months for micro and 7 weeks about 140 hrs for a and p  i used clep books for most of the other test and i passed so 400 doesn't sound that bad to me but you might want to check online and see what all resources are available for free first i hope i helped some. sincerly alicia

Thanks. I had a bad feeling about TCN but since it was so cheap bought them. It looks like these are so out dated that only 3 of the modules are useful. Im thinking about asking for my money back from the guy.

I don't know anything about the study guides published by anyone outside of Excelsior. I only use the study guides they provide & the recommended texts. One thing I can tell you thought is to CLEP as many of the general edu. class that you can. If you can self teach those classes then you can definately do the Excelsior nursing exams. I took Sociology, Human Growth & Developement across the life span through CLEP. I also took a Dantes exam as well. They are much cheaper than online classes., & it will be a good "taste" of distance learning.

If your buddy paid in full or is up to date in his payments for college net. They will send you the updates.  However the information is the same and can be useful. I used one guide from a friend and the info was helpful, just wasnt my style of studying... I have a copy of the breakdown for the new exams... They just broke them down to make an extra exam but content is the same.  The notes you find on ebay are the same (old), but useful.
